ASIA/TAIWAN - Bishop of Hsinku resigns, successor appointed

Vatican City (Fides Service) - On 4 December 2004, the Holy Father Pope John Paul II accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the diocese of Hsinchu (Taiwan), presented by Bishop Lucas Liu Hsien-tang, in conformity with the Code of Canon Law, can. 401 § 1. The Holy Father also appointed Bishop of Hsinchu (Taiwan) Bishop James Liu Tan-kuei, until now titular Bishop of Accia Auxiliary of Taipei. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 6/12/2004; Righe 5; Parole 73)
