ASIA/MALAYSIA - Appointment of the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On July 3, 2014, the Holy Father appointed Rev. Julian Leow Beng Kim, of the clergy of Kuala Lumpur, currently dean of studies and formator at the major seminary of Penang, as Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
The bishop-elect was born in Seremban, Malaysia in 1964 , Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. After his primary and secondary studies he studied at New South Wales University in Sydney and obtained a bachelor's degree in Civil Accountancy. He worked in Sydney and then in Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Singapore. He then completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the major Seminary in Penang. He was ordained a priest on April 20, 2002 for the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. Subsequently, he has carried out the following ministries: 2002-2004:Vicar of the “Visitation” parish in Seremban; 2004-2007: Priest of the “Holy Family” parish in Kajang; 2007-2010: holds a licentiate in ecclesiastical history from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome; since 2010: dean of studies and formator at the major seminary of Penang.
