AFRICA/MALAWI - Appointment of National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On October 25, 2013, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Vincent Fredrick Mwakhwawa, of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Malawi for five years (2013-2018). The new National Director was born on November 20, 1975 in Salima, and was ordained a priest on 12 July 2003. He has a degree in theology at St. Peter's Seminary Mayor (University of Malawi) and a Master's degree in pastoral theology at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (Nairobi). He was Assistant Pastor and Pastor in several parishes, Bishop’s secretary, Pastoral Coordinator at a diocesan level, professor and formator and at Kachebere Major Seminary.
