Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On March 11, 2014, the Holy Father, appointed Fr. Placide Lubamba Ndjibu, M. Afr., Provincial Superior of the missionaries of Africa to Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda as Bishop of the Diocese of Kasongo (Democratic Republic of Congo).
Fr. Placide Lubamba Ndjibu, M. Afr., was born on October 26, 1959 in the Diocese of Lubumbashi. After primary school (1972) and secondary school (1979) in Lubumbashi, he obtained a State Diploma in General Pedagogy and began his religious formation at the Institute of the White Fathers. He completed his studies in theology at the Catholic Institute of Tolosa, France, and studied journalism and social communications at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland and was ordained a priest in 1991.
After his ordination he has served in a number of pastoral roles: 1991-1994: Parish Vicar in the Parish of Notre Dame Deschamps, in the Archdiocese of Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso; 1998-2002: Assistant priest and pastor of the Sacred Heart Parish in the Diocese of Manzeze, Tanzania; 2002-2007: Editor of the KARIBU Bulletin in Bukavu and at the same time, Chaplain of the Wima High School and the Saio military Camp in Bukavu; 2007-2010: Priest of the St. Bernadette Parish in Lubumbashi. Since September 1, 2010, he is the provincial of the White Fathers for Central Africa (Burundi, Rwanda and DR Congo). (SL) (Agenzia Fides 12/03/2014)
