Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father, on December 3, 2013, appointed Rev. Correa Carlos Alberto Martínez, of the clergy of Sonsón - Rionegro, Director of the St. Paul Missionary Priests Association, as Apostolic Vicar of Guapi (Colombia), assigning him the titular see of Severiana.
The new Apostolic Vicar was born on July 17, 1968 in Medellín. After attending primary and secondary schools in Medellín, he entered the Misionero del Espíritu Santo Seminary (Diocese of Sonsón - Rionegro), where he completed his studies in Philosophy and Theology. He was ordained a priest on November 27, 1993, incardinated in the diocese of Sonsón - Rionegro. After ordination he has held the following pastoral and administrative positions: 1994-1995: Parish priest in the parish of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, Archdiocese of Portoviejo (Ecuador); 1995-1996: Parish Vicar in the Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, diocese of Sonsón – Rionegro; 1996-1997: Missionary in the Diocese of Riohacha; 1997-2003: Missionary in the Diocese of Monteria; 2003-2005: Studies for a Licentiate in Missiology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome; 2005-2006: Coordinator of the St. Paul Association of Priests and formator; since 2006: Episcopal Delegate for missionary animation; since 2007: Director of the St. Paul Association of Priests, Professor and Spiritual Director of the missionary Seminary of Espiritu Santo.
