Kigali (Agenzia Fides) - In Rwanda the camps hosting refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are almost full after another stream of people fled insecurity in the regions of eastern DRC. The thousands of Congolese refugees live in the five camps of Gihembe, Kigeme, Kiziba, Nkamira and Nyabiheke. In 2012, according to the Rwandan government, at least 25,000 Congolese arrived who joined the other 43,000 already in the country. Most have opted to stay in a camp of transition in Nkamira, which lies on the border with the DRC, hoping to return to their homes as soon as normality returns to their villages. In the camp of Nkamira there are currently 8,300 Congolese refugees, among them fighters that escaped the recent clashes between two factions of the armed forces M23 in the eastern part of the DRC.
