Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, on 18 June 2012 appointed Rev.do Athanasius George Williams, of the diocesan clergy of the Saint John's-Basseterre as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the West Indies for the five years from 2012 to 2017.
The new National Director was born on May 2, 1957 in Castries St.Lucia, and was ordained a priest on May 31, 2004. He is currently the Administrator of the Holy Family Cathedral, Director of the Youth and Vocations, Head of the Catholic Radio and of the diocesan newspaper. During his formation, in addition to his studies for priesthood, he attended courses on communication, radio and television production, mass media, social development, ecumenism, in various American and English universities.
