AMERICA/BOLIVIA - Church committed to consolidating communications pastoral

Cochabamba (Agenzia Fides) – From 28 to 30 July Cochabamba will host a Meeting of the Bishops and secretary delegates for Communications in Boliviarian countries, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru and Bolivia. According to information sent to Fides the goal of the meeting is to intensify experience sharing and consolidate pastoral of communications in order to promote a culture of communications inspired by Aparecida and the documents of Church Magisterium. Participants will include Bishop presidents of Communications Commissions, RIIAL, (Information Network of the Church in Latin America ), executive secretaries of Communication Commissions of the Bishops' Conferences of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Presently Bolivia is marking the 10th anniversary of Católica Televisión, founded in 2001, which has announced that it will soon extend its signal to reach more areas of Sucre. “We are planning to reach those most in need, we intend to extend and improve our signal” said the director general of the means of communication of the archdiocese, Próspero Cáceres. With the slogan 'Signal of Hope', Católica Televisión intends to announce the values of the Gospel with images which are not in contradiction to life, but instead which make life become a priority. Its programmes are inspired by the Gospel values of justice, dialogue and brotherhood, so that communications may communicate and promote the common good. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 23/7/2010)
