AMERICA/BRAZIL - PMS of Brazil launch missionary novena on DVD for October

Tuesday, 6 July 2010

Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) – Each year, to animate the month of the missions, the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) prepares various materials, like the missionary campaign, a printed version of the message of the Pope, prayer cards with the missionary prayer, texts for celebrations, and the envelope for the collection. The new addition for 2010, Fides has learned, is the missionary novena on DVD, produced by Verbo Films, which contains nine short documentaries on many issues related to the mission that can be used in each community during the month of October. Each film has an average length of seven minutes and the nine themes are in line with the theme for the Day.
After watching the movie, the people are invited to share the impressions of what they saw. The goal is to help the Church in Brazil in her mission beyond its borders, ad gentes. The themes of the novena are: Day 1: A Missionary Novena, Day 2: The Mission in the Big Cities, Day 3: The Mission on the Outskirts, Day 4: Mission in the Context of Hunger and War, Day 5: The Mission and Popular Religious Devotion; Day 6: The Mission With Migrants, Day 7: The Mission in the Amazon, Day 8: The Mission and The Sharing of Goods, Day 9: The Mission and Ecclesial Communion.
In line with the theme of the Fraternity Campaign, the campaign theme is Mission 2010: "Mission and Sharing." Grants for the animation of the Campaign, including the DVD, have already been sent to all dioceses in Brazil. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 07/06/2010)
