Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on March 5, 2010 appointed as National Director of Pontifical Mission in Guatemala for five years (2010-2015) Father Juan Gregorio Mendoza Arevalo, of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Guatemala City.
The new National Director is 43 years old and has been a priest for 10 years. He studied liturgy at the St. Anselm Pontifical Liturgical Institute in Rome. He was associate pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (2000) and pastor of Holy Cross Parish (2006). He was named ad interim National Director by the Bishops' Conference.
