AMERICA/BOLIVIA - 30 Bishops come together from all over Bolivia to celebrate first anniversary of Ongoing Mission and National Missionary Day for Children and Young People

Cochabamba (Agenzia Fides) – On Sunday 18 April the faithful of the Salesian parish of “Mary Help of Christians” in Cochabamba welcomed 30 Bishops from dioceses around the country and Cardinal Julio Terrazas Sandoval, President of the Bishops’ Conference of Bolivia and Archbishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The extraordinary gathering was to celebrate the I anniversary of the Ongoing Mission in the country and the National Missionary Day for Children and Young People. Presiding at Mass, Cardinal Terrazas Sandoval invited the people to contemplate the God of life and of missionary endeavor: “Very often we give more importance to the difficulties instead of having an attitude of joy which could help us to overcome pessimism and a lack of understanding.” He also emphasized the responsibility every Christian has to care for God’s creation, the obligation to respect and cultivate it and to be in a position to respond to all the material and spiritual needs of our time. On the anniversary of the Ongoing Mission in Bolivia, Cardinal Terrazas Sandoval mentioned in particular the difficulties of the religious mission: “In the midst of tiredness and disappointment, of efforts that bear no fruit, there is the encouraging presence of the Lord.
