Singapore (Agenzia Fides) – Train new lay faithful for local missionary work and evangelization ad gentes...It is with this spirit that the Church in Singapore has launched a new training program for lay faithful, to make them “participants in the mission of the Church at home and abroad.”
As the local Church tells Fides, the training program, which is receiving registrations still, will begin April 23 and concluded at the end of 2010. There will be training sessions on subjects such as anthropology, theology, and missionary spirituality. They will address the crucial issues involving the activities of the laity in the Church, emergency humanitarian assistance, psychological assistance to populations in post-trauma, etc. Course participants will also carry out a missionary experience, which will be an essential part of their formation.
"Every faithful who is moved by love of God to serve the weak and every person who wants to share God's presence and their experience of faith with others is invited to participate in the program," reads the advertisement from local church.
As a second step, another specific training program will be organized in 2011, for those who intend to commit and donate their entire lives to missionary work. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 13/4/2010)
