The ceremony took place at the Silver Jubilee celebration of the youngest city in Bolivia. Men and women in recent years have had a specific task: to help the needy, who are the majority in this city. "Thanks to the work of social promotion of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of El Alto, thanks to all project managers and directors who have made reality this award..." the Bishop of El Alto, Bishop Jesús Juárez Parraga, commented with deep emotion. "It's great news and a great event, as it combines the political reality with the work of the Church," said a representative of the Sisters of Christ Crucified, Sister Maria Antonia Gross, grateful for the honor given to the Association Virgen Niña. The Association's mission is commitment to the neediest areas through education and assistance with basic services like health and nutrition. "It 's a joy to share in the celebration with the city of El Alto and we are proud to serve the poorest," said Burgosmarka Foundation President Father Juan Carlos Devesa, who works with young people at risk living on the streets. The help that is offered to young people and teenagers, mostly secondary level schoolchildren, is education, health care, and introduction to technical work. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 12/04/2010)
