Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – The Holy Father Benedict XVI, on March 29, 2010, appointed Fr. Jean Marie Vu Tat, of the clergy of Hung Hoa and Vice-Rector of the Major Seminary in Hanoi, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Hung Hoa (Viet Nam), assigning him the Titular See of Tisiduo.
Fr. Jean Marie Vu Tat was born March 10, 1944 at Di Nau, Thach That, Ha Son Binh, in the Diocese of Hung Hoa. He completed secondary studies at the Minor Seminary of Son Loc, Son Tay. From 1969 to 1987, he attended private courses in Philosophy and Theology in the Bishop's Residence, working at the same time to earn his keep. He later completed his training in the Major Seminary of Hanoi and was ordained a priest on April 1, 1987, after finally obtaining government permission. After ordination, he held the following positions: 1987-1992: Vocations Director in the Diocese; 1992-1998: Assistant to the Diocesan Administrator; 1995-1997: sent to Rome, where he obtained his Licentiate in Canon Law at the Pontifical Urban University, 1997-1998: attended a course in pastoral studies at the Catholic Institute of Paris, 1998-2003: Assistant to the Bishop, Director of Mission Pastoral Ministry in the Province of Lao Cai; 2003-2009: pastor in Bach Loc; 1999-2004: Professor of Canon Law at the Major Seminary in Ha Noi.
