Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) - "Mission and sharing" ( "Missão and Partila"): This is the theme of the missionary campaign taking place in Brazil in October 2010. To increase awareness of the event, representatives of major missionary media agencies linked to the National Missionary Council (COMINA) and the press office of the Bishops' Conference (CNBB) met December 15 at the headquarters of National Directorate of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Brasilia, according to information sent to Fides.
For National Director of the PMS Father Daniel Lagni, who promotes and coordinates the work, the meeting was "very positive and has served to deepen the process of spreading the missionary campaign in Brazil as an instrument of formation, animation, and cooperation.” In his view, "the fact of gathering a group that represents the resources of the Catholic press is already the beginning of a process of articulation and dissemination of the Campaign."
Every year the PMS, in order to animate the month of missions, prepares and sends out materials and the Pope's message, a prayer card with the missionary prayer, printed information, texts, and ideas for the celebrations to all the dioceses of Brazil. For next year, for the dissemination of campaign on mainstream media, one of the approved proposals involves the creation of a DVD containing a novena and testimonies of the missionaries who work in various parts of the world.
The director of "Verbo Films,” Father Cireneu Kuhn, SVD, stressed that the objective of the novena is to spread the theme of the campaign and encourage Christians to a genuine commitment to the missions. "The DVD offers a number of missionary experiences that may serve as a reference for spending one's life for the kingdom," said Fr. Cireneu, who will coordinate the production. According to Father Paulo de Coppi, editor of the magazine “Youth Mission,” “the Missionary Council always has an important role to play in the missionary animation of the community."
