VATICAN - “Bambino Gesu” Hospital joins in the celebration of Universal Children's Day

Thursday, 20 November 2008

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - “Bambino Gesu” Children's Hospital is celebrating Universal Children's Day with an exhibition all about children and the rights of the child, and with a giant celebration along with the firefighters, who will show how to be safe and have fun. November 20 is the day dedicated to the smallest in our society, as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, approved in 193 states (being the one approved by the greatest number of countries in the history of mankind), almost 20 years ago, on November 20, 1989.
In order to contribute to this event, the little patients of the Rome-based hospital (in Ludoteca, piazza Sant'Onofrio,4. Open from 9:30-12:30 and from 2:30 to 5:00) are working to spread awareness on what concerns them most closely: their rights. Thus, it is a privileged perspective that will allow the adults to the aspirations and hopes of these little ones. Occurring simultaneously with the exhibition, in the colored spaces of the Ludoteca, the children will try their hand at some painting.
At the Palidoro (beginning at 9:30am, via Torre di Palidoro), the little patients will be joined by the Province of Rome Fire Department for a “Pompieropoli,” an occasion to learn and have fun with obstacle courses where the kids can do what the firefighters do on a daily basis, but on a small-scale, and more. It will be a mini-intensive course, accompanied by the mascot “Grisu,” the firefighter dragon, with the presentation of a “Little Fireman's” diploma to the children of “Bambino Gesu” Hospital, at the end of the day.
