EUROPE/ITALY - Loreto 1-5 September 2004, Catholic Action National Meeting. The Pope will beatify Alberto Marvelli, lay member of AC

Tuesday, 2 March 2004

Rome (Fides Service) - Recently Pop e John Paul II granted a special audience to Paola Bignardi, national president of Catholic Action in Italy and Mons. Francesco Lambiasi, ecclesiastical Assistant General to ACI. The Pope voiced appreciation for the path of renewal undertaken by the Association to rediscover its original Christian charisma and four characteristics - missionary, diocesan, unifying and lay - which he himself proposed to the last Assembly, and for the revision of the statutes of AC of which the “organic synthesis is the most mature and ecclesiastically integrated form of lay apostolate ”.
The Holy Father said he is delighted with ACI decision to organise a national pilgrimage to Loreto in September and he said he would like to be present for the conclusion Sunday 5 September when he will beatify the servant of God Alberto Marvelli, and possibly other servants of God members of ACI.
