National Director of Pontifical Mission Societies confirmed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, on 26 October 2007, appointed Rev. Salvador Micallef of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Malta, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Malta for a five-year term (2007 - 2012).
The new National Director was born October 20, 1945 in Zebbug, Malta. He was ordained a priest March 19, 1972. He studied theology at the University of Malta, earning a licentiate in 1972. He has been assistant pastor in the parish of Zebbug, later pastor in Kirkop (1978), and then in Birkirkara (1980). In 1989, he was appointed Archpriest of the parish of Naxxar and in 2003, pastor of St. Joseph’s Parish in Kalkara. At the beginning of this year, he was appointed member of the metropolitan Chapter.
