National Director of Pontifical Mission Societies confirmed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, on 9 November 2007, appointed Rev. José Ricardo Bran Mijangos, of the archdiocesan clergy of Guatemala, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Guatemala for a five year term (2007-2012).
The new National Director was born on 7 February 1956 in Palencia, Guatemala. He was ordained a priest on 21 December 1983 for the archdiocese of Guatemala. He has since ministered as follows: assistant parish priest (1984/87); parish priest in various parishes in Guatemala City (1987/2007); archdiocesan delegate to the Second American Mission Congress (CAM 2). He is a member of the council of priests and the consultors of the archdiocese. Since 2002 he has been head of the archdiocesan Missions Commission and this year was appointed a member of the Missions Commission of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Guatemala. (S.L.)
