AFRICA/TOGO - Bishop of Aného appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI on 3 December 2007 appointed as Bishop of Aného (Togo) Rev. Isaac Jogues Agbémenya Gaglo, until now diocesan administrator of Aného.
Rev. Isaac Jogues Agbémenya Gaglo was born on 7 October 1958 at Kpémé, archdiocese of Lomè. After primary school at Agbodrafo, he entered the Minor Seminary in Lomé and later the St. Gall Major Seminary at Ouidah, Benin, where he obtained a degree in theology.
He was ordained a priest on 9 August 1985 by the Servant of God Pope John Paul II, for the archdiocese of Lomé, and then, after its division, he served the diocese of Aného.
Since his ordination he has ministered as follows: assistant priest at the parish of the Holy Ugandan Martyrs, while teaching at St Pius X minor seminary in Lomé (1985-1992); Doctorate in moral theology in Innsbruck, Austria (1992-1997); private secretary to the late Bishop Paul Jean-Marie Dossavi of Aného. (1998-2001); parish priest at Sacred Heart parish in Aného, spiritual assistant to the Coeurs Vaillants et Ames Vaillantes Movement, Family Pastoral assistant, director of Adjido Catholic School; diocesan consultant (1998-2005).
