ASIA/IRAN - National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peopleson 4 May 2007 appointed Rev. Jack Youssef of the Congregation for Mission (Lazarists), National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Iran for a five year term (2007-2012).
The new national director was born in Teheran on 22 November 1971 and he has been a member of the Congregation for Mission (Lazarists) since 26 September 2004. He was ordained a priest on 1 July 2005 in the Catholic Cathedral in Teheran. He studied philosophy and theology at the Avignon inter-diocesan Seminary and has a degree in dogmatic and fundamental theology and a Licentiate in Philosophy from the Jesuit Faculty in Paris Centre Sèvres. He also studied computer engineering specialising in artificial intelligence. He has taught mathematics at the Khajé Nasir High School and University in Teheran. (S.L.)
