Monday, 23 April 2007

Cochin (Agenzia Fides) - Work continues on the recently announced project for a Malayalam version of the weekly edition of the Osservatore Romano. Fr. Mathew Thundathil, director of the Carmel International Publishing House, in the south western Indian state of Kerala, explained that this initiative was first announced as possible during the Commemoration of the second anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II, but that the Vatican is still assessing the matter. Naturally everyone hopes that the word of the Holy Father may soon reach the 32 million Indians who speak Malayam, living mainly in the state of Kerala. (S.L.)
