New Delhi (Agenzia Fides) - The Indian Christian Directory 2006, a sort of encyclopaedia, gives all sorts of information on the presence in India of Christians of different denominations.
The 1,650 page book is published by Rashtra Deepika Ltd and distributed by Mediahouse, Delhi (http://www.mediahousedelhi.org/icd.htm). It has two parts: part one contains 45 articles by researchers, academics and experts and statistic information on the different religions and different Christian denominations in India. Part two gives information on the Catholic Church in the world, the Holy See, the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences and statistics on the Catholic community in India.
The Indian Christian Directory 2006 is for use in parishes, dioceses, Catholic schools, study centres, universities, pastoral centres, ecclesial and civil organisations, the media. It is a demonstration of transparency on the part of India’s Christians, their presence and service to the nation, to promote the common good, social and cultural development, harmony among the different communities.
