Ouagadougou (Agenzia Fides) - In the afternoon of Saturday 1 July 10 new priests were ordained in the Catholic Cathedral of Ouagadougou: 1 diocesan priest, 1 Redemptorist, 2 Sons of Immaculate Mary, 6 Camillians.
The Cathedral was filled to capacity and many more people followed the service outside. Despite immense heat the Mass, enriched by typical African liturgical dancing and singing, lasted for five hours
The Ordination mass was presided by the Archbishop Gian Maria Compaoré and concelebrated by over three hundred priests. On the Sundays in July the new priests will go to their respective parishes and villages to celebrate special Masses of Thanksgiving for the gift of the priesthood.
