OCEANIA/PAPUA NEW GUINEA AND SOLOMON ISLANDS - Appointment of the New National Director of the PMS

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization (Section for the First Evangelization and the New Particular Churches), has appointed Rev. Fr. Christian Sieland of the clergy of the diocese of Kundiawa as national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands for a five-year term starting from January 1, 2025.
Father Christian Sieland, was born in Papua New Guinea, is 44 years old and is parish priest of St. Mary's Cathedral. A former student of the Pontifical College Urban in Rome (2007-10), he obtained a licentiate in biblical theology in 2013 at the Pontifical Urbanina University and obtained a doctorate in the same discipline and at the same university in 2024. After his studies, he worked as a teacher, in pastoral ministry and in administration. (EG) (Agenzia Fides, 18/12/2024)
