Shanghai (Agenzia Fides) - "The love of Christ for the Church" and "the fidelity of the Church to Christ". These were the words of the Bishop of Shanghai, Joseph Shen Bin, in his homily at the opening of the Seminar organized by the Diocese of Shanghai to strengthen pastoral work in parishes and thus promote the proclamation of the Gospel in the city and throughout the diocese.
The seminar took place in Shanghai on Tuesday 29 October and was attended by over 230 priests, nuns and lay people of the diocese. Representatives of the civil authorities were also present.

In his homily, Bishop Shen Bin addressed his message in particular to priests, reminding them that the source of their pastoral work is the careful preparation and celebration of daily Mass and daily prayer, together with the time they dedicate to meditation and Eucharistic adoration and to the study of the Word of God.

During the various working sessions, the process of implementing the "Diocesan Order for the Management of the Works of the Catholic Church in Shanghai" was also discussed. In 23 working groups, the participants discussed a total of 15 specific topics, divided into four thematic areas: the sinicization of the management system of the activities of the Catholic community, the pastoral life of parishes, the state and current problems of Christian families, and vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. The discussion gave rise to suggestions and ideas to be taken up and developed in the future path of the Catholic community in the diocese of Shanghai. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides, 2/11/2024)
