Rome (Agenzia Fides) - Creators of new languages and paradigms for evangelization, Ecology, climate change, migrants and refugees, digital culture and Artificial Intelligence, Internal and External Communication in the Church and in the Salesian Congregation, are some of the topics that will be discussed at the World Conference on Social Communication organized by the Sector for Social Communication of the Congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Faculty of Social Communication Sciences of the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS).
“Shaping Tomorrow” is the title of the initiative that will begin on August 1 at the UPS facilities in Rome. The main objective, which is developed following the guidelines of the Sector for evangelical, synodal, Salesian, convergent and artistic communication, is to deepen social communication in the Salesian Congregation, and to help guide communication in the Salesian Family (SF).
The theme of digital and artificial intelligence is present in all the media, on the Internet, on the networks and in everyone's life - reads the note sent to Fides Agency -. Young people live in a digital culture. And this new habitat raises great questions in these times when everything is becoming virtual. The Salesians of Don Bosco, as educators of young people, walk with them in the so-called digital culture, and together with them they want to better understand what it means to live in this complex digital universe.
The one-week congress aims to get to know the world of communication of young people, with young people and for young people better; to create global networks of communicative narration, to help mature Christians and honest citizens grow; to give continuity to the activities that the Salesian Congregation is carrying out, to respond with creativity and Salesian identity to the opportunities and challenges of the digital world and Artificial Intelligence (AI); and finally, to always remember that for Salesians, communicating always also means educating and witnessing.
Among the participants are communications delegates and members of their communications teams from different countries on the five continents. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 31/7/2024)
