Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On Sunday, October 22, 2023, the Holy Father Francis appointed the Reverend Fr. Davide Carraro, P.I.M.E., until now vicar general of Alger, as bishop of Oran, Algeria.
Msgr. Davide Carraro, P.I.M.E., was born on 26 January 1977, studied philosophy in Italy and theology in the Philippines, and was ordained a priest on 27 May 2006.
He held the roles of envoy in Algeria (2006) and missionary in the diocese of Laghouat (2007-2008 and 2017-2019). Following studies in classical Arabic in Egypt (2008-2011), he served as a missionary in Cote d’Ivoire (2012-2017), missionary in the archdiocese of Alger (since 2019), vicar general in Alger (since 2022) and local referent for the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions in Algeria and Tunisia.
