AFRICA/BURKINA FASO - Resignation and appointment of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Ouagadougou

Vatican City (Fides News Agency) - On October 16, 2023, the Holy Father accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archdiocese of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, presented by Cardinal Philippe Nakellentuba Ouédraogo.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Prosper Kontiebo, M.I., of Tendodogo, as metropolitan archbishop of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Bishop Prosper Kontiebo, M.I., was born on 25 September 1960 in Boassa, archdiocese of Ouagadougou. He gave his perpetual vows in 1988 in the Congregation of Clerics Regular, Ministers to the Sick (Camillians) and was ordained a priest on 7 July 1990.
He has held the following offices: various tasks with the Saint Camille Scholastic, superior vice-provincial of the Congregation of Clerics Regular, Ministers to the Sick in Burkina Faso; member of the College of Consultors; member of the Episcopal Council; member of the Congregation of the Ministers to the Sick.
He was appointed first bishop of Tenkodogo on 11 February 2012, and was consecrated on the following 2 June.
From 2012 to the present, he has served as bishop of Tenkodogo. (EG) (Fides News Agency 16/10/2023)
