ASIA/JAPAN - Appointment of Father Andrea Lembo as auxiliary bishop of Tokyo

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has appointed the Rev. Father Andrea Lembo, P.I.M.E., currently Regional Superior of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions for East Asia, as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Tokyo (Japan), assigning him the titular Seat of Mulia.
His Exc. Msgr. Andrea Lembo, P.I.M.E., was born on May 12, 1974 in Treviglio, Italy. After attending the P.I.M.E. International Theological Seminary in Monza, he spent a year at the P.I.M.E. Regional House in Detroit (USA). He then obtained a bachelor's degree in Theology at the Divine Word School of Theology in Tagaytay (Philippines) and attended the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy. He was ordained a priest on June 12, 2004 in Milan. He has held the following positions and carried out further studies: In charge of missionary and vocational animation for the P.I.M.E. at the community of Villa Grugana (2004-2008); study of the Japanese language (2009-2011); coadjutor at Itabashi Parish, Tokyo (2011-2012); coadjutor at Narashino Parish, Tokyo (2012-2017); currently Regional Superior of the P.I.M.E. in Japan (2017-2023); since 2017, Parish Priest of Fuchū, Tokyo; since 2021, Director of the Shinsei-Kaikan Faith Formation Center; since 2022, Member of the Presbyteral Council of the Archdiocese of Tokyo; since 2023, Regional Superior of P.I.M.E. for East Asia.
