Jerusalem (Fides News Agency) - The President of Israel Isaac Herzog, along with his wife and a delegation, paid a private solidarity visit to the Stella Maris Monastery in Haifa, which - like other Christian places of worship - has been the object of vandalistic acts by radical Hebrew groups (see Fides 28/7/2023).
"His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, the Carmelites of Haifa and Patriarch Theophilos, the Patriarch of the Orthodox Church in Jerusalem, along with the Bishops and the heads of Church, welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed their appreciation for their deed, which supports a closer framework for peace, understanding and coexistence", the Patriarchate of Jerusalem stated on their website.
"Together with our youth, we will continue to try and protect Holy Sites at every level. We ask everyone to pray for peace in our country, and to promote a culture of dialogue and peaceful cohabitation with all" they concluded. (L.M.) (Fides News Agency 10/8/2023)
