Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On May 24, 2023, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, appointed Father Jaime Coimbra Do Nascimento, PIME, as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Guinea Bissau for a five-year term. The new national director of the PMS in Guinea Bissau is 51 years old and was ordained a priest in 1999. From 1999 to 2005 he was a missionary vocation animator for the PIME region of South Brazil, in the diocese of Londrina (Paranà). From 2006 to 2011 he was a missionary and parish priest in the parish of Maria Immacolata delle Bijagos (Diocese of Bissau-Guinea Bissau); later from 2011 to 2017 he was vice-rector and treasurer of the PIME International Theological Seminary in Monza (Italy). From 2017 to 2020 he was a missionary vocation animator for PIME in Brazil (Londrina-Paranà) and since 2020 he has been a missionary in Guinea Bissau. He held the position of formator of the PIME vocational community "Dom Pedro Zilli" and that of parish vicar of Nossa Senhora of Fatima in Bissau.
