Jerusalem (Agenzia Fides) - The attack by the Israeli army on the Palestinian city of Jenin represents an "unprecedented" aggression, with "barbaric acts" that also destroy sacred sites and take the lives of people who desire and deserve a dignified life. This is reiterated by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem in a communiqué published today, Tuesday, July 4, on the Israeli "aggression," which it says has also hit the local church and ecclesial community. The statement concludes with an appeal for an immediate ceasefire and an end to "unjust crimes". Meanwhile, the Israeli military operation in Jenin continues today. The Palestinian death toll has now risen to 10, including an elderly woman and three minors. The attacks were mainly directed against the al-Madina refugee camp. The number of wounded is over a hundred. According to the medical aid organization Doctors Without Borders (MFS), health facilities were also hit in the attacks, while Israeli bulldozers destroyed several roads leading to the refugee camp near Jenin, making it almost impossible for ambulances to reach the wounded and to be treated.
