Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Francis has appointed the Reverand Jean Nicolas Rakotojaona, of the clergy of Antananarivo, currently Rector of the Major Seminary of Philosophy Saint Paul Apôtre in Antsirabé as Auxiliary Bishop of the Morondava Diocese (Madagascar), assigning him the titular See of Dragonara.
Msgr. Jean Nicolas Rakotojaona was born on January 18, 1973 in Anosy Avaratra (Antananarivo), he entered the Saint Paul Apôtre Major Seminary of Philosophy and continued his theological studies at the Saint Thérèse de l'Enfant Jésus Major Seminary. He was ordained a priest on August 3, 2002 for the clergy of Antananarivo.
He has held the following offices and carried out further studies: Parish vicar in the district of Ihazolava (2002-2004); Studies for the Master in Philosophy of Religion at the Université Catholique de Madagascar; Vicar in Andohatapenaka and Ampefiloha (2004-2006); Rector of the Victoire Rasoamanarivo Preparatory Seminary; Professor of Social Doctrine of the Church at the Higher Institute of Technology in Antananarivo and of Philosophy in the Minor Seminary (2006-2009); Parish priest of Ambanidia (2009-2011); Doctorate in theology at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) (2011-2017); Vice-Rector of the Major Seminary of philosophy in Saint Paul Apôtre (2017-2018); since 2018 he has been rector of the same Major Seminary.
