ASIA/SRI LANKA - Commemoration ceremony for the victims of the 2019 attacks

Colombo (Agenzia Fides) - A 40 km human chain to remember the victims of the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks that hit two Catholic churches and a Protestant one in Sri Lanka (see Fides, 22/4/2019).
The commemoration ceremony and the requiem Mass took place at St. Anthony’s shrine, Kochchikade, where one of the bomb blast took place.
At 8.45 in the morning (Exact time of the bomb explosion) all the Sri Lankans observed 2 minutes Silence while the bells of the churches and other religious places rang.
Soon after, a human chain almost 40 kilometers long was formed on the road from the shrine of Kochchikade to the shrine of St. Sebastian, Katuwapitiya, where the other explosion took place. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides, 22/4/2023)
