Croix des Bouquets (Agenzia Fides) - Father Jean-Yves Medidor, priest of the Clerics of St. Viator, a collaborator in the Christ-Roi le Meilleur parish of Port-au-Prince, was kidnapped in Croix des Bouquets. The news was released by the information site Mano Actualité. According to what has emerged from the little information gathered to date, the kidnapping took place on Friday, March 10, while the missionary was near his home. He was attacked and kidnapped by an armed gang of hooded men who put him in a car and drove off.
The news of this umpteenth kidnapping against religious comes a few days after the release of Father Antoine Macaire Christian Noah, a Claretian missionary in Kazal (see Fides, 28/2/2023).
Specifically, the area of Croix des Bouquets, a suburb of Port-au-Prince, is under the control of the armed group known as the 400 Mawzoo "expert" in kidnappings. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 14/3/2023)
