Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On September 2, 2022, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, appointed National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Bolivia ad interim, His Exc. Msgr. Adolfo Eduardo José Bittschi Mayer, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Sucre.
Bishop Bittschi Mayer was born in Ingolstadt (Germany), diocese of Eichstatt, on December 1, 1950. He was ordained a priest in Eichstatt on June 18, 1977. In the years 1973/74 he attended the Biblical Study in Jerusalem. After his ordination he was vice-parish priest in several parishes in the diocese of Eichstatt. Since 1983 he has been a 'fidei donum' in the Archdiocese of Sucre, Bolivia, where he has been a parish priest and a member of the Presbyteral Council. On May 15, 2008 he was appointedd auxiliary bishop of Sucre, consecrated on August 8 of the same year. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 28/10/2022)
