Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On July 25, 2022 Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, appointed the rev. Peter Chanel Gomes, of the archdiocesan clergy of Dhaka as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Bangladesh for a five-year period (2022-2027).
The new National Director was born on April 26, 1981 and was ordained a priest on May 20, 2011. Among the positions held after his ordination, he was Vice-parish priest in two communities, Vice-rector of the Seminary of Dhaka, Coordinator of the Diocesan Commission for young people, Master of Ceremonies.
From 2017 to 2020 he studied in Rome, at the Pontifical Liturgical Institute Sant’Anselmo, where he obtained a licentiate in Liturgy. He returned to Dhaka where he was Vice-parish priest and, since September 5, 2021, he is a resident Professor at the Seminary of Dhaka. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 15/9/2022)
