Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The 4th edition of the multimedia study course "Communication is mission", edition 2022-2023, organized by the Pontifical Missionary Union in collaboration with the Faculty of Institutional Communication of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (PUSC) and Fides and addressed to students of the Colleges under the jurisdiction of the Dicastery for Evangelization, aims to raise awareness among pastoral workers that the means of communication and the mass media should be seen as opportunities to spread the Gospel. The aim is to acquire the ability to relate stories, events and experiences to show the new frontiers of the Church's mission in today's world.
The course provides theoretical and practical skills in the field of multimedia communication through the specific study and practical application of video, radio, web, photography and written language. The training includes learning methods and techniques for the design and manufacture of products for digital media in all their forms.
The fourth edition of the course, which will be taught at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross and at the International Center for Missionary Animation (CIAM), will be attended by priests, religious, seminarians, doctoral students and lay people working in the international colleges of the Dicastery of Evangelization, especially from Africa, Asia and Oceania and from the Apostolic Vicariates in the Americas. The Pontifical Missionary Union reserves the right, at its discretion, to cover the registration and participation costs for selected students from parishes under the dicastery.
The presentation and opening lecture are scheduled for October 15, 2022, in the middle of the missionary month of October, while the conclusion after 130 hours of lectures is scheduled for May 2023. The lectures will be given by teachers from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, in particular the Faculty of Institutional Communications, as well as journalists and media professionals, voice actors and multimedia communicators.
