Ayubia (Agenzia Fides) - "As young Catholics we are also missionary disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are called to fulfill a mission of healing and renewal of life. We are the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, we walk with great zeal and commitment to our young fellow human beings, to proclaim the love and mercy of God. To pass on the Good News of Jesus Christ, to be an accompanying hand for them to grow and live the Catholic faith," said Father Qaisar Feroz (OFM Cap), national chaplain of the Jesus Youth International (JYI) Church Movement, in its Pakistan branch, at the conclusion of a week-long training seminar entitled "Lead 2022: Discipleship training Programme" organized in Ayubia.
The program included a training course in evangelization, based on the six points of the kerygma, aimed at helping new members of the movement experience the personal encounter with Jesus Christ, the starting point of mission.
Ayyaz Gulzar, Coordinator of Jesus Youth in Pakistan, welcomed the participants by saying: "We thank God for another group of young people who have joined Jesus Youth International. This week is a great blessing and a time for us to meet our Lord Jesus Christ and welcome Him as our Lord and Savior. God calls us by name. And God calls us to serve in His vineyard as young missionary disciples of His Son Jesus Christ".
Jesus Youth - explained the coordinator - is not just a lay Catholic movement, but it is a way of life, a school for the formation of lay people for the Church and society". "Since the movement was recognized by the Holy See in 2016, it has also been growing in Pakistan," he said.
After the successful completion of the training course, the participants, who came from the dioceses of Karachi, Hyderabad, Multan, Faisalabad and Lahore, took part in further specific training courses on topics such as discipleship, being synodal church, mission and evangelization, spirituality and charisma of the Jesus Youth.
Jesus Youth International (http://jesusyouth.org/) is a lay Catholic movement currently present in more than 40 countries on the continents of Asia, Africa, Europe, America and Australia.
