Mexico City (Agenzia Fides) - The Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Mexico have presented to the Diocesan Directors of Missions of Mexico and to the media the activities planned for the World Day of Native Vocations, on August 21, and for Mission Sunday, better known as DOMUND, on October 23. The objective of these two days is to promote the missionary spirit. The path until August 21 will begin a month earlier, on July 14, with a Eucharistic celebration for native vocations; From August 8 to 13 there will be a formation catechesis and on August 16 the celebration of the vocational holy hour.
The Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle will be in charge of the mass on August 21, which will take place in the Mixe region, located in the northeast of the state of Oaxaca. In this regard, training aids and graphics have been shared for the day, which will be distributed to the diocesan directors of the PMS in Mexico. As for DOMUND 2022, whose motto is "So that they may be my witnesses", it was recalled that the masses will be celebrated on September 22 and 29, continuing on October 6, 13 and 20. Likewise, from October 11 to 21, a week of formation and religious celebrations will be held in support of the day, in addition to the third edition of the Virtual Missionary Expo, whose place and period are being finalized. At the end of the speeches, a video was presented with the official DOMUND 2022 anthem, composed by Edwin Vera Bautista, a seminarian from the Diocese of Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas who won first place in the DOMUND 2022 Anthem musical contest, launched in January of this year to promote the creativity and musical talent of consecrated and lay people in Mexico. The director of the Mexican PMS has made an appeal to generously support the two days, which encourage the missionary spirit of the local Churches, which year after year pray and cooperate in favor of the clergy and missionaries who respond with love to the missionary call.
