Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides) - "We ask everyone to remain hopeful, despite the inconvenience caused by the postponement of the papal visit, and to remain patient and persevere in prayer (Rom 12, 12), because nothing is impossible for God (Lk 1:37), says the message of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Congo (CENCO) on June 13 to the Catholic faithful and women and men of good will, on the occasion of the postponement of the apostolic visit of the Holy Father Francis to the country. The message of encouragement follows the "reactions of regret that express the pain of knowing that the Pope is suffering"; a regret which, according to the Bishops, shows that "the Congolese people as a whole aspire to peace" and testifies to the love of the Congolese people for the Pope, whose concern for the DRC is in turn great. "He asks our forgiveness for the inconvenience that has been caused and invites us to join his prayers so that God grants him the grace of healing and this visit can take place as soon as possible," said the bishops, and thanked "those who spared no effort to prepare the visit". Pope Francis was supposed to visit the Democratic Republic of Congo from July 2-5, 2022 and celebrate Mass in Kinshasa on Sunday, July 3. Instead of the postponed trip, a mass "for peace and reconciliation in our country with prayer for divine grace for the health of the Pope" is to be held in the 48 dioceses of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
