Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - In the context of the seventh anniversary of the Encyclical "Laudato Sì", of Pope Francis, the Argentine Church is celebrating, from May 22 to 29, "Laudato Sí Week 2022". On Sunday, May 22, in the Cathedral of Buenos Aires, at 10 a.m., the Bishop of Lomas de Zamora, Monsignor Jorge Lugones, President of the Social Pastoral Commission of the Argentine Episcopal Conference, will preside over the opening mass, which will be broadcast via the YouTube channel. Other dioceses in Argentina have also been invited to promote similar celebrations. "The Laudato Sì week is a special time of the year, in which we are encouraged to engage in an integral ecological conversion, which does not only concern the care of nature, but of all the living beings that compose it, generating a profound change in societies, for a sustainable and healthy life of all creation that the Lord has given us", explains the note from the National Commission for Justice and Peace, sent to Fides. Alongside the Commission, several organizations and ecclesial realities participate in the animation: Caritas, Catholic Action, Scouts... This year's Week will have as its motto "Listening and walking together", in accordance with Pope Francis' invitation to "Unite the human family to protect our common home" (LS 13) and to deepen the objectives of Laudato Sì, which help to discern a response to the ecological crisis which especially affects the most vulnerable: 1) Response to the cry of the earth. 2) Response to the cry of the poor. 3) Ecological economy 4) Adoption of sustainable lifestyles. 5) Ecological education. 6) Ecological spirituality. 7) Community resilience and empowerment. "These goals call us to a spiritual and cultural revolution to achieve an integral ecology", underlines the note. The Table Laudato Sí Argentina was born in 2020 from the need to create a network of movements, institutions and pastoral organizations that, in communion, walk together for the care of the Common Home. This network invites all men and women of good will to take part in the mass on Sunday May 22 and to carry out initiatives during the week in each community, diocese, social center and other places of aggregation, in order to build a better world in following in the footsteps of Christ Jesus in this synodal journey.
