AFRICA/TANZANIA - Resignation of the Bishop of Lindi and appointment

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On April 9, 2022 the Holy Father Francis accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the Diocese of Lindi (Tanzania), presented by His Exc. Msgr. Bruno Pius Ngonyani. The Holy Father has appointed Fr. Wolfgang Pisa, O.F.M. Cap., as bishop of the same diocese, currently Assistant Parish priest of Kwangulelo Parish and Lecturer at St. Augustine University in Arusha.
His Exc. Msgr. Wolfgang Pisa, O.F.M., Cap., was born on July 6, 1965 in Karatu (Diocese of Mbulu).
He entered the Franciscan Order of Capuchin Friars Minor in 1990. After his novitiate (1991-1992) he studied Philosophy at the Order's Formation Center in Lusaka, Zambia (1992-1994), and Theology at Jordan University College of Salvatorian Fathers in Morogoro, Tanzania (1995-1999). He made his perpetual vows on August 15, 1998 and was ordained a priest on September 1, 1999.
After his priestly ordination he held the following positions: Lecturer and Formator at the Maua Minor Seminary of the Order of Capuchin Friars Minor, in Moshi (1999-2000) (2003-2005); Bachelor of Arts in Development studies and Geography, Dar-es-Salaam State University; Rector of Maua Minor Seminary, Moshi (2005-2008); Student of Moral Theology at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., U.S.A. (2009-2011); Provincial Minister of the Capuchin Friars Minor in Tanzania (2011-2017); Licentiate in Moral Theology at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., U.S.A. (2017-2019); Pastoral service at Kibaigwa Parish, Metropolitan Archdiocese of Dodoma (2019-2020). Since 2020 up to now he has been Assistant Parish priest of Kwangulelo Parish and Lecturer at St. Augustine University in Arusha. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 11/4/2022)
