Warsaw (Agenzia Fides) - Evangelization in Poland, the new challenges of the mission ad gentes, young people, the conflict in Ukraine and the Jubilee Year on the occasion of the anniversaries of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS). Agenzia Fides spoke about these issues with Father Maciej Będziński, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Poland. In the interview published in full on the "Omnis Terra" website, Fr Będziński points out that "the missio ad gentes is the first vocation of the Church of Christ, as Saint Paul VI strongly reminded us. Even more so now, after the publication of the new Constitution of Pope Francis on the reform of the Roman Curia, we welcome this task of evangelization as urgent and a priority". "Being in permanent contact with the missionaries and knowing the mission territories - continues the Director - I see that today we must intensify our efforts to help formation, we must focus on the integral formation of seminarians and catechists. I mean that seminaries and schools for catechists need good formators. That is why our national direction of the PMS and the University that bears the name of Cardinal Wyszyński in Warsaw came up with the idea of proposing a formation course, in addition to theological studies, for the priests of African countries. We have also prepared a text and a collection of articles to help formators". Fr. Będziński continues: "Missions ad gentes in history have been linked to geographical discoveries; today the Internet, radio, television are the "new geographical discoveries", and we must be there, to spread the seed of the Gospel with means and enthusiasm. That is where we need to look for people, first of all our baptized brothers and sisters, and then go even further". (...)
