Baghdad (Agenzia Fides) - The Catholic Churches of the Middle East join Pope Francis in the act by which Russia and Ukraine will be consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to ask for an end to the tragic war that began a month ago in the heart of Europe. During liturgical celebrations hosted by the Patriarchs and Bishops of the Middle East, the faithful of the region will join the Penitential Mass and the Consecration that will take place tomorrow, March 25, in Rome, in St. Peter's Basilica, in the presence of the Pope. The initiatives of the Syrian Catholic Patriarch Ignace Youssef III Younan deserve special mention, who will seek the intercession of Jesus and the Virgin Mary for an end to the war in Ukraine on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Beirut's Syriac Catholic Cathedral dedicated to Our Lady of the Annunciation. Also in Baghdad, Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako, Patriarch of the Chaldean Church, invited bishops, clergy and laity to join the Pope's call to pray for an end to the war in Ukraine and the return of peace. On Friday, March 25, Patriarch Sako will celebrate a service of consecration to Mary at 7:00 p.m. at the Chaldean Church of Our Queen of the Rosary in Baghdad. (GV) (Agenzia Fides, 24/3/2022)
