San José (Agenzia Fides) - The Bishops of the Episcopal Conference of Costa Rica and the Apostolic Nunciature in Costa Rica invite all the dioceses and parishes of the country to join Pope Francis' invitation for the Act of Consecration of Russia and the Ukraine to the Heart of Mary, which the Holy Father will preside over on Friday, March 25 at 5 pm (Rome time), at 10 am in Costa Rica. The statement of the Presidency of the Bishops' Conference, sent to Fides, informs that "the Bishops of the Bishops' Conference will join in this celebration of the universal Church from the National Shrine and the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels in Cartago". The Mass for Peace will follow the Act of Consecration. The Bishops will be joined by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature, the State Authorities and the members of the Diplomatic Corps.
"To give a witness of faith and communion in prayer - continues the statement - we invite all dioceses and parishes of Costa Rica to join the celebration, ideally at the same time as the Pope will do it (via the Internet or other means of communication), or at different times on March 25, through Holy Mass, Holy Hours, Eucharistic Adoration, Penitential Liturgies, etc…"
Finally, the Bishops' Conference exhorts: "Let us pray and ask the Lord for peace. In particular, we urge priests to invite the faithful to join this celebration in the various Christian communities of our country". (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 21/3/2022)
