Lima (Agenzia Fides) - With the aim of promoting an integral formation of catechists in Peru that will enable them to face the challenges of evangelization in the 21st century, the Episcopal Commission for Catechesis and Biblical Pastoral Care of the Peruvian Episcopate has promoted the Formation Course "Catechists of the 21st Century" which begins on March 8. According to information sent to Fides, this new proposal will be online and will include seven themes that will be developed during this first semester. "The objective is to make catechists aware of being, as baptized, true missionary disciples, that is, active subjects of evangelization and, on this basis, qualified by the Church to communicate the Gospel, accompany and educate in the faith", explains the Episcopal Commission. The Course will begin with the theme "ABC of catechesis", addressed to all catechists and pastoral agents who are at the beginning of their service. Then follow, one per month, "Spirituality of the catechist and missionary sense", "Introduction to the Bible", "Coexistence and management of conflicts", "Vocation of the catechist", "Catechesis of Christian initiation". The semester will end on June 9 with the theme "Kerygma and Christian Initiation". (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 7/3/2022)
