La Paz (Agenzia Fides) - "In our world and in our social and cultural context, we are called to sow the seeds of peace, justice and reconciliation. In order to reap these fruits, the seed of violence and war, the seed of injustice and the seed of hatred and polarization have to be eliminated. In this season of Lent we have the opportunity to remove these evils. Therefore we must strive at opportune and inopportune times, personally and collectively, as humanity and as the people of God ", said the Bishops of Bolivia in their Lenten message, inspired by the message of Pope Francis for Lent 2022: "Let us not grow tired of doing good" (Gal 6: 9).
Following the image that the Pope proposes for this Lent, the Bolivian bishops emphasize: "Once again we are encouraged to sow in our lives, doing good, because this task is a grace, because the Creator wants that we actively unite with him on the path of fertility". So they warn: "In a world in which selfishness has become a sin in our society, we are called upon to look beyond ourselves, to leave our own country in order to 'sow good things for others'." Finally, they urge us to ask God for "the peasant's patient perseverance, that he may not cease to do good". We have the necessary tools that will help us to obtain a good harvest, such as prayer, fasting and almsgiving... May the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace, lead us to a sincere dialogue among ourselves and with the Lord, accompany us on the path of becoming sowers of peace in the world".
