AMERICA/CASTRIES - Resignation of the Archbishop of Castries (Santa Lucia) and appointment

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On February 11, 2022 the Holy Father accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Castries (Santa Lucia) presented by His Exc. Msgr. Robert Rivas, O.P. The Holy Father has appointed His Exc. Msgr. Gabriel Malzaire, currently Bishop of Roseau (Dominica).
Msgr. Gabriel Malzaire was born on October 4, 1957 in Mon Repos, Micoud, Santa Lucia.
He entered the St. John Vianney and Uganda Martyrs regional Seminary in Trinidad and Tobago, and was ordained a priest for the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Castries on July 28, 1985. He received a doctorate in Dogmatic Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. On July 10, 2002 he was elected Bishop of Roseau (Dominica) and consecrated on the following October 4. Since 2017 he has been President of the Episcopal Conference of the Antilles. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 14/2/2022)
